Conference Field Trips
The conference brings to one location mensurationists from all of North America. For many of the attendees, the event offers the first opportunity to visit the Pacific Northwest. Considering the beauty of the region there will be three field trips: one before the event (wet ecosystems), one during the event (Columbia Gorge), and one after the event (dry ecosystems). Each trip should be booked separately and can be done any time before Nov 15, 2022, when the decision on the existence of each trip will be made.
Wet Ecosystems
Dec 11, 2022. This tour will travel west of Portland and focus on the wet ecosystems of mainly Douglas Fir, Western red cedar, and western hemlock. The tour will also include important landmarks, such as Oregon beaches.
Tour logistics:
- Depart DoubleTree 9:00 AM and return 5:00 PM.
- Transportation and lunch provided.
- A minimum number of 5 people is necessary for the trip to occur with a maximum of 30. Tour registration is first come, first served.
- Registration fee: $30.
Columbia Gorge
Dec 13, 2022. This tour will travel east of Portland and will focus on the waterfalls along Columbia River, the Columbia Gorge, the 2017 Eagle Creek fire, and the Bonneville Lock and Dam, a national historic site.
Tour logistics:
- Depart DoubleTree at 12:30 PM and return at 6:00 PM.
- Transportation and lunch provided
- A minimum number of 5 people is necessary for the trip to occur with a maximum of 30. Tour registration is first come, first served.
- Registration fee: $30.
Dry Ecosystems
Dec 15, 2022. This tour will travel east of Portland into the Cascade Mountains and focus on the dry ecosystems of mainly Ponderosa Pine. The tour also includes a visit to Oregon landmarks such as Mt. Hood.
Tour logistics:
- Depart DoubleTree 9:00 AM and return 5:00 PM.
- Transportation and lunch provided.
- A minimum number of 5 people is necessary for the trip to occur with a maximum of 30. Tour registration is first come, first served.
- Registration fee: $30.
The tour organizers reserve the right to alter tour routes if unexpected events occur. Tour changes, if they occur, will be announced prior to departure. Tour registration fees are fully refundable until 11/01/22 (November 1). No refunds after this point, unless the tour is cancelled, and substitutions are always welcome.
